Care Experience

Country Cousins

Live-in Carer

2018 - Present

Throughout this time I have provided home support and care for several gentlemen and ladies over the period of many years. I returned many times to provide personal care, home assistance, and companionship for an elderly lady in Guernsey ensuring she kept the active life she was already accustomed to. For the past several years I have become a regular live-in carer for a couple in Cambridgeshire who require companionship, nutritional meals, household chores, and assistance as and when required throughout the day. This has expanded to full personal care, rehabilitation exercises and emotional support.

South Central Ambulance Service

Ambulance Care Assistant

Aug - Dec 2017

I joined South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) as an Ambulance Care Assistant for the Patient Transport Services. During November I passed their one-month Clinical Training to become an Emergency Care Assistant but the emergency driving proved unsuitable and so I decided to focus entirely on live-in care.

Home Instead Senior Care

Live-in Carer

Mar - Jul 2017

I provided care for a gentleman which included assistance with washing, dressing, incontinence care and dementia support. I performed all home help activities including shopping, meal preparation, nutrition planning, and medication. I also cared for and walked the family dog. I was there for companionship and conversation; arranging outings and social meetings; and ensuring all of my client’s needs were met to the best of my ability. We built up a wonderful genuine relationship and I now have become a close friend of the family.

CARE Giver

May 2016 - Mar 2017

I cared for five clients totaling 25 hours each week. One gentleman was primarily companionship and rehabilitation with five hours daily care and encouragement with hydration, nutrition and physiotherapy exercises. After six weeks he gained the strength and confidence to join other residents for meals and social gatherings. I also continued to help his wife during a very difficult time for a further three months until she too was able to continue unaided.

My Cooking Skills

I am very competent in the kitchen and experienced at cooking a wide range of food. I am comfortable preparing dishes such as Sunday roast, fish, bolognaise, lasagne, curries and also cooking meat such as steak, pork and lamb to the desired taste. I enjoying creating light lunches, snacks and salads from a variety of ingredients with added tasty food like avocado, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke.

I have been a pescatarian for many years and have no problem preparing and cooking meat dishes. I believe if meals are varied and food is healthy and fresh then they will be nutritious, tasty and enjoyable.

Hobbies & Interests

I love to spend time in nature appreciating the fresh air, walking in parks, observing the wildlife and visiting places of natural interest. I enjoy reading and engaging in holistic remedies, spirituality, meditation, mindfulness and the practice of healing the body through quantum possibilities, intention and energy flow.

I am a qualified Reiki practitioner and spend much of my spare time providing remote Reiki for friends, family and those interested to learn more of our natural ability to heal ourselves.
